Please note that Adblue removal is a legal requirement if fitted to the vehicle. Removal of the Adblue system is for vehicles being used for off road/Motorsport use only. When the works to the vehicle have been done, the vehicle will need to be recovered away.
What is Adblue?
AdBlue is a urea-based solution used in vehicles (both cars and vans) with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx). The solution is injected into the exhaust stream, reacting with the NOx to form harmless nitrogen and water vapour.
While AdBlue can be an effective way of reducing emissions, it’s not without its drawbacks. For one thing, it’s expensive – a typical 2.5-litre bottle of AdBlue can cost around £20, and a vehicle with an SCR system will use about 3 to 4 litres per 1,000 miles. It goes without saying that although the adblue system has been out a number of years, the system itself can be problematic and sometimes unreliable. Replacement parts for the system can range between £100 – £2000 with some manufacturers parts on back order, leaving your vehicle off road. There’s also the inconvenience factor to consider – having to top up your AdBlue regularly can be a hassle, especially if you’re on a long journey and can’t find a stockist to top up, when your Adblue counter reaches zero, in most cases the vehicle will refuse to start.
